I still have a ‘productive cough’ however, I think my chest infection is all about done – thankfully…
The Festive Season seems to come and go around all too quickly these days – no sooner has one Christmas been and gone and done – it seems the next one is upon us, that’s how I felt this year, then someone pointed out that it’s only eleven weeks to Easter?! I had to think on that one, but if you look – they are right. Eggs and Easter goodies are already on the shelves, I do wish they wouldn’t. It would be so much nicer if these things ‘appeared’ when each celebration was imminent. (I also think the Easter goodies on sale at present are maybe last year’s stock?)
Anyhow, snow is forecast; and I have never, EVER seen so much rain or surface water on the roads. We passed through one village where lots of homeowner’s household items were out on the pavements, obviously after being flooded out – I found it quite distressing and powerless to do anything of any consequence. My heart really does go out to these poor unfortunate souls, I can’t even begin to imagine the ‘clean-up’ necessary in these circumstances. Fire and water are the most destructive of elements where households are concerned don’t you think? I’ve experienced a house fire, but question whether flooding is actually worse. We live on the top of a hill, therefore have never experienced flood damage. The fire wasn’t at this home by the way; and more than twenty five years or so ago. I lost two cats, and then in the mid nineties there was a fire at my parent’s home – started by the fridge of all things. One dog survived, one perished. The one that survived was a Yorkie and he had managed to get under the smoke – the other an English Setter, much larger, so he didn’t escape the smoke. More than 60,000 pets a year die in house fires believe it or not; and some are started by chargers that are left in electrical sockets and still swicthed on, not being used – so, don’t leave them switched on! I know it’s a habit a lot of us have with our phone chargers etc., leaving them in the same socket, then just grabbing our phones, charger still plugged in and on, without a thought for what could happen – so, it’s better to get out of that habit. I thought the action was harmless too – apparently not; and I’ve seen a home video of such events…
Are we all detoxing after the Christmas festivities and inevitable over indulgence? Here’s some salad then…
